On March 11, 2021, the Department of Homeland Security will be announcing the designation of Burma (Myanmar) for Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for a period of 18 months TPS is a temporary immigration status granted to nationals of certain countries deemed by the US government as difficult or unsafe to return. TPS status allows eligible citizens of those nations to remain in the United States and acquire a work permit until the TPS program expires and it is safe to return. The requirements and registration period for this new designation will be confirmed in the Federal Register notice.
