On March 11, 2021, the Department of Homeland Security will be announcing the designation of Burma (Myanmar) for Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for a period of 18 months.
TPS is a temporary immigration status provided to nationals of certain countries designated by the U.S. government, where return to that country is difficult or unsafe. TPS status allows eligible citizens of those countries to remain in the U.S. and obtain a work permit, until such time as the TPS program is ended and return becomes safe. We are waiting for the Federal Register announcement that will confirm the requirements and registration period for this new designation.
